Ok. I am returning to work, after spending the past 11 months with my sweet little, in 26 days. 26 DAYS!!!…..But who is counting, right!?
For the past few months, when I have not been wearing PJ’s, it has been a pretty constant stream of yoga pants, t-shirts and sweatshirts. Thank goodness for these forgiving staples in my wardrobe as my body continues to morph (lol!) post pregnancy.
With my return to work looming, I am feeling completely clueless in the fashion department. As comfortable as they are, my ‘go-to’ staples just won’t cut it in a professional setting. I have come to terms with the fact that I have to say goodbye to my joggers and sweats, but I have no idea what my new professional wardrobe should consist of. Does my dilemma sound familiar to anyone else out there?
My pre-baby body wasn’t perfect, but it was predictable. I knew what looked good on me and what didn’t. I rarely even had to try things on in store because I was blessed with the gift of knowing if something would fit just by looking at it.
Now, I don’t know if my body is going up or down…no, seriously. Even worse, I feel so out of the loop with what is currently on trend for a young professional. While taking care of my little love, the last thing I thought about was how chic I looked with spit in my hair and on my shirt. And during pregnancy I lived in a land of maternity wear, where my baby bump made anything look cute!
I have tried shopping for my new wardrobe a few times, but it has just resulted in me feeling like a deer in headlights. I have even found myself retreating to the maternity and nursing clothing stores for a breath of fresh air because it is what I have known for the past 18 months (true story!).
So, I need your help! What are your go-to pieces for this season? From head to toe, I want to hear about it all!
I am hoping to compile my fave picks for a follow-up piece in the coming weeks so keep your ideas coming via comments, Facebook, Twitter or email. I know I am not the only new mom feeling like this, and together we can elevate our ‘return to work’ wardrobe 🙂
